The out-the-back-door explorer category is for folks who want to make their own tracks, exploring off the beaten path. The skis still fit in cross country ski touring center ski tracks, but get wider for more stability when blazing untracked territory, and the boots emphasize warmth, comfort and waterproof dependability, while delivering what is best called "rugged performance" and the ability to power larger skis on more varied terrain.
