As Education & Safety Coordinator for North Carolina Outward Bound, I needed truly universal backcountry skis and boots. The Madshus Epoch skis and Garmont Excursion boots I purchased from ORS are perfect! Above is a truly great skiing video featuring an excellent winter in the Southern Appalachians made by one of my friends. It's 3 minutes long and will give you a good idea of what backcountry skiing is like at our end of the Appalachians.

Hi ORS! Here are photos of our 6-year-old daughter, cross-country skiing for the first time in Southampton, NY during the Christmas break, where we were blessed with so much snow. Although it was a bit difficult for her to stay on her feet, she managed to work it all out toward the end of our run. As you can see, much fun was had using her new cross-country skiis! Thank you!

I recently purchased the Rossignol BC 65 Positrack cross country skis and Rottefella NNN BC Automatic nordic ski bindings for my boyfriend. This is his first season of cross country skiing; he downhill skis and never tried cross country ... until now. He discovered that he loves it!!! We can’t get enough. To boot, this winter has been exceptionally snow-filled so we are playing hard!!! These are photos of us and friends in the Laurel Mountains -- outside of Ligonier, Pennsylvania. There is an old downhill ski lift and trails that we cross country skied down .... and, what goes down, must come up!!! Whew ... what a glorious and perfect day in God’s beautiful country. Also photos of Apollo, Pennsylvania, where we were blazing trails in over two feet of fresh snow ... talk about blood pumping and loving life!!! Good times with good friends. We have also experienced amazing times skiing around our property under the stars and moon wearing headlamps!

Recently purchased the Rossignol BC 90 back country ski package. This was my first time on any type of cross country skis, and I must say, these skis are super fun! I just head up to the Sierra Nevadas and ski wherever I want. Been out three times now and loving it!!! Kennedy Meadows, California is 40 minutes from my house. Three great workouts on some awesome skis! Thanks again. Oh yeah, I finally bought some ski pants. Enjoy! I am!

The perfect bluebird day spent deep in the Chic-Chocs mountains, playing around in Virginie's Secret Stash. The Chic-Chocs mountains, located in the Gaspe National Park, offer some of the finest backcountry nordic touring and telemark skiing on the North American east coast. Check out Ski Chic Chocs Outfitters and their many reasonably priced guided packages (hint: the 'All-Glide' touring package is worth every canadian penny), oh and just to be sure your trip is perfectly complete, do yourself a favor and eat & sleep at Sebastien's amazing Auberge Chez Bass in Sainte Anne des Monts, located just a few minutes drive from the Chic Chocs. And be sure to tell both of these places Mr. Ricklefs sent ya!!!

From Flagstaff, Arizona we would like to say thanks for the opportunity to purchase the Alpina 75mm Blazer boots to bring back the life in our three pin crosscounty ski gear. In a winter where we have had over 120 inches of snow fall our order was delayed three days as we finished up a 54" snow storm in January. The picture is my wife and I enjoying a day Kendrick Park just north of the San Francisco Peaks (elevation 12,500 ft) just 15 miles from our home in Flagstaff. Skiing at the 8500 ft elevation the touring is great in that there is 5 to 6 feet of standing snow and no fences to worry about! We should be down hill skiing and boarding into mid April and plan on using the cross country skis until the spring comes here in the land of cactus and gila monsters. Oh yea...the boots fit great using the sizing chart for me with a men's size 14 and my wife in a womens size 9. And the sales price was great also - Thanks Again! - C. Smith Flagstaff, AZ

Competing in a ski mountaineering race! I'm using the Karhu Guide skis I bought from you guys. An awesome choice for ski mountaineering races, I use skins for the really steep ascents, but I really make up time when its flat or not that steep and I can cruise along using just the fishscales on the bottom while everyone has to use skins.

Took this photo of my friend who borrowed my Osprey Kode 30 backpack for the same ski mountaineering race!
