The Karhu Guide skis are now the Madshus Annum skis
PLEASE NOTE: K2 Sports, owner of both Madshus Skis & Karhu Skis, has discontinued the Karhu XCD product line and is now producing them as Madshus backcountry skis. The former Karhu XCD Guide skis are now the Madshus Annum skis. Only the branding and artwork are new, otherwise they are exactly the same.
The 2010 Karhu XCD Guide backcountry skis are the result of many requests from serious backcountry skiers for a waxless, full-metal edge backcountry touring ski that is ultra-fat to absolutely float on super deep soft snow and/or fresh powder when breaking trail and ripping telemark turns on the downhills. The Karhu Guide has full metal edges and Omnitrak No Wax waxless base for excellent grip and control. However, the very fat platform is what sets the Karhu XCD Guide apart from other backcountry skis. With 109-78-95 dimensions, the dramatic progressive sidecut enables the ski to initiate and carve turns like pure telemark skis, while the taper design prevents it from hooking at the end of your turn. Combine with 75mm 3-pin bindings and stiff all-mountain backcountry ski boots and you'll be able to traverse any mountain to find the best remote deep powder gems. Virtually maintenance free, we recommend simply applying a quick coat of liquid glide wax before each outing, such as Swix Easy Glide (see accessories below), to improve ski glide and prevent snow from sticking to ski bases.

The Karhu Guide backcountry / telemark skis are compatible with any NNN, SNS, 75mm-3pin/telemark or AT binding systems etc.
Recommended Use:
Very fat waxless skis with full-metal edges for serious backcountry skiers that mostly encounter very deep soft snow and fresh powder. Ulta-wide platform for float with progressive sidecut / taper design for true telemark turns in deep snow conditions on even the steepest vertical.
