The 2012 Marquette backcountry skis are truly a technological marvel. With an ultra-fat platform, short length and early-rising tips you can think of them as 30% snowshoes, 70% backcountry skis and 100% fun! The Marquettes are universally equipped to offer an amazing backcountry touring experience, whether your aim is trekking the remote wilderness for exercise and rewarding scenic vistas or hard-charging descents through tight trees and pristine deep powder.
Packed with incredible features for superior performance. They are a short, wide ski with a macro fish-scale base that allows you to float and shuffle across deep powder just like snowshoes as well as climb up and ski down deep snow in even the most difficult terrain and tightly wooded steeps. The unique waxless fishscale design grabs the snow and holds the skis from sliding backwards while climbing, yet wont affect downhill velocity. The wide, early rising tip and zero-camber base produce fantastic deep snow flotation, while the short length and sidecut radius create confident steering. The Marquette skis are hollow, creating less mass from material but still ridged from the internal "girder" structure. The center biased binding location, combined with the size and shape of the ski provide a well balanced feel.
The factory threaded inserts allow for easy, no-drill mounting of any standard 75mm 3pin backcountry touring-telemark bindings. If casual exploring is your thing then a basic touring ski boot and three pin binding is an excellent choice. If high velocity maneuvers and aggressive downhill skiing is your goal then heavy-duty backcountry telemark boots and 3pin cable bindings are the optimal choice. Easily accepts any climbing skins also. Maintenance free, we recommend simply applying a quick coat of liquid glide wax before each outing, such as Swix Easy Glide (see accessories below), to improve ski glide and prevent snow from sticking to ski bases.

Recommended Use:
For all ranges of backcountry experiences, from casual touring to high-performance downhill skiing in snow filled bowls, avalanche slides, and secret tree lines. The waxless fishscale base allows you to get from point A to point B without needing climbing skins (for steepest pitches, however, we do highly recommend climbing skins).
