N. Newell. asks - I'm figuring out what xc ski size to order for a tall four year old. Back in the day, we measured to our kid's wrist for ski length. Is that still the practice? How many sizes larger than their regular shoe size should we go for ski boot size, to allow for thick socks? Any advice would be helpful.

ORS Crew (Ryan) answers - With all the new design innovations, these days the emphasis is on more compact skis for kids, and we highly recommend the Fischer Sprint Crown kid skis. For measuring you don’t go quite as long as with traditional cross country skis. We recommend choosing a ski that is about 10cm taller than your child. As far as boots, I’d say you can go a size or two up, but I wouldn’t recommend going larger than that. A boot that is too large can cause blisters, will result in less control, and will generally leave a negative impression in your little one’s mind, and you definitely don’t want that.
